Marketing

Marketing is the process of getting potential clients or customer interested in your products and services. It involves researching, distribution and selling. Potential clients need to know about your company, your products, your prices and your location.They also have to know what benefits and features your products come with. So when you are doing marketing, always ensure that benefits and features are fully and well explained. This is because, the interest of potential customers lies in the features and benefits of a product or service.


In the area of marketing, marketing mix is very important as it forms part of your marketing strategy.

Customer service is defined as the provision of service before, during and after. It is simply the support you offer to your clients. Here, satisfaction is very vital in customer service. You need to understand that when a potential customer or a client enters your shop, branch or any outlet, that customer has a need or a want. So your role is to ensure that, that particular need or want is met. You have to satisfy the client at all costs. You must ensure that whatever they need is provided.

In customer service, don't promise to over deliver when you have no capacity. This because when you fail, the customer may end up getting dissatisfied and eventually go away. Don't also under deliver as this may chess your customers away. So be in between. Losing a customer it's not worth it. Customers are a stakeholder to your business, so they matter a lot. They are a reason for your existence. They pay your salaries when it comes to employees.


Having defined these two components above, I believe I have laid the foundation for your better understanding as we look at their importance in details. Marketing and customer service are important in the following ways:

  1. Marketing helps potential clients know about your brand, location, and how they can benefit from your products and services.

  2. Marketing helps you to plan and strategize to counter competition in the industry you are in.

  3. Marketing enables you follow up on your existing clients to understand their challenges. Which will help you in coming up with a product that will address their needs and challenges.

  4. Marketing helps you in relationship building so that you retain your customers.

  5. Marketing helps your company become profitable.

  6. Marketing creates awareness of your products and services to the masses.

  7. Marketing helps your business to grow.

  8. Marketing makes it easy for your business to increase clientele.

  9. Customer service ensures that customer complaints are minimized and improve on our services.

  10. Good customer service brings customer retention.

  11. Customer service helps in improving turn around time.

  12. A good customer service increases income generation indirectly.

  13. Referrals come about good customer service rendered to a client. This increases customer base.

  14. A good customer service creates customer loyalty.


In conclusion, marketing plays a bigger role in growing your business, increase profitability.Customer service on the other hand plays a very important role in maintaining clients that come as a result of marketing and maintaining the growth of the business. In short the two components must always go together. Marketing brings customers and customer service maintains them. You can have the best marketing strategy to increase your clientele and grow your business but it can be defeated if you have a poor customer service. As a result, you may not be able to retain any customer that visited you . Therefore, a good marketing strategy and customer service helps your business grow.
